Thursday, August 31, 2006 > Nose-less..

My sister....:)

My own two holes (which are NOT the above) are really clogged up currently. So clogged up that I had to pause every now and again while eating because my mouth was the only inlet for oxygen.

The sense of smell has been the one sense I have always undermined in comparison to sight or hearing. However, I found much importance in having the sense of smell today. The story:

Was in shower.
Took out new bottle of shampoo.
Curious as to what it smelt like.
Squeezed some shampoo onto hand.
Brought it towards nose.
Nearer.....
No smell.
Nearer yet...
Still no smell
Nearer than near.....
Absolutely nothing.

I was practically eating the shampoo by then. Got some on my lips and nose. Now, if you have seen my nose before, you would know that I brought it really close. Other than feeling stupid after that, I felt frustrated and irritated...

I know, I know... It's just shampoo. But knowing that there was most certainly a smell present but incapable of having even a slight scent of it kills... I now believe a friend (he lost his sense of smell due to a brain injury) who said, "It is not at all fun to lose your sense of smell."

So for future reference.... If I stink with BO, it really isn't my fault. Please be a good enough friend to tell me when appropriate:)

Tuesday, August 29, 2006 > Aaaahhh.....

Just sent in one of my many major assignments to my lecturer. Such relief I feel now.

Must enjoy the relief while it lasts............. Another major one due next Monday.

Since I have channeled most of my brain juice and writing abilities to the 2,000 word assignment I just sent in, I would have to reserve the little that I have left for the upcoming assignment.

Thus, lengthy and thoughtful updates shall be of non-existence for some time.

Monday, August 21, 2006 > Chomping, Munching and Chewing

We, unfortunately, did so much of that last weekend..

It all started on a glorious, sunny, Saturday afternoon....

FOREWARNING: This is another photo-filled post. This may soon be a photo blog. Oh well...

The Glorious Oh Glorious Sun!

So, how could we not have ice-cream??

All smiles....

Happy customers

Later that night at home....

3kgs of pork boiling away for the soon-to-be bahkutteh dinner

Who would like to guess how we smelt after that?:)

All smiles AGAIN

Talk about eating a certain kind of food based on the weather. So it's not really our fault. We needed ice-cream to cool us down on a hot afternoon and bah kut teh to warm us up on a cold winter's night.

I undoubtedly live in denial..

However,

We had this for lunch the very next day

It would be impossible to continue living in denial even if I wanted to. I could not find a justification for eating fried chicken that soaked the serviette through with oil no matter how hard I tried... I now only take comfort in the fact that many others ate it as well:)

Haih.. I know. It's time to stop consuming so much junk.

Easier said than done...

Thursday, August 17, 2006 > FFM

The lack of updates is due to the lack of time and the lack of inspiration. This circumstance has not yet changed, so hence, this will pretty much be a photo filled post.

FFM: Fortnightly Fellowship Meeting

Feels like I am back in FGA. Almost every ministry back there consists on the word 'fellowship'.

Ladies Felloswhip
Mens Fellowship
Home Fellowship
...................................................... and many more

Oh.... How I miss FGA. Unsurprisingly, Uncle Mike was the one that came up with this ingenious name. His past definitely has an effect on the ideas he comes up with:) As un-Paradise as that sounds, we, the international students are still calling our newly birthed fortnightly meetings that. A cooler name is yet to be thought of. Oh well, based on the time taken to actually think of it, I am sure it will be a good one...

Anyway, we had our first FFM last Friday in Adelaide Uni and had Altered Frequency with us! What better location than the Uni to have our meetings. And what better band than AF to get the ball rolling (Sucking up to them now. Those Klang boys are supposed to bring us for Bah Kut Teh when we get back)! I am so excited about our blossoming International Students Ministry!

Ok.. Nothing to blabber on anymore. Picture time!

The Band and Us

Oh, Lucky Agnel!!!!!:)

Yes, Nicci, Anne and I danced in our thongs!!!

These guys sure are masters in giving nicknames. After the first 24 hours of aquaintance, I became 'Pengsan', Grace became 'Tinkerbell' and Anne became 'Chang Chang Chang'. Hahaha...

It was great having them here, they promised us a visit back next year!! Of course we all know that promises are meant to be broken, but giving them the benefit of the doubt lah:) Time to run off to class now..... Augh...

Tuesday, August 08, 2006 > Note Taking

Just reread some SIDE notes I took during classes last semester while paying intense attention to the lecturer:

"Wing Sun is sssoooo sleepy, it's not funny. I just want to sleep! I don't know how to tahan staying awake for another minute let alone another 2 hours!!!! God... Please make time move faster. No need 60 seconds in a minute lah...... Please..."

"I want to have bah kut teh tonight!!!!!"

"Faster, faster... I am so freaking sleepy. Giving up.. And falling asleep already...." (My handwritting was practically a straight line by then. It took me some time to read what I wrote.)

"Wah! Stop talking lah!!!!!"

"Can he get anymore boring than this??????"

"Deck the halls with boughs of holly, Falalalalalalalala. Tis the season to be jolly, Falalalalalalalala" (The number of lalas were actually correct. I clearly remember singing along to make sure it was correct. I am way beyond hope....)

These are only just a few out of the many. Because I have absolute no talent what-so-ever in drawing, I usually doodle in words. Giving you a little insight to what I actually do and think about when in class.

I LOVE Uni....................

Friday, August 04, 2006 > A Minus 1000 Points Joke

D: Wah, so tired man... Filming the whole day for the Powergen Film Fest.

Me: If like that, you better give up the desire of your heart to be a Hollywood star lah..

D: Eh, yalah...

Me: Don't worry... you will always be a star in my heart:)

D: And you will always be a moon in mine! Hahahahahahahah..... *Laughing hard*

Me: *Ran straight to the wall and long piaks*
(I know nuts about Hokkien and actually got it from here but the word 'piak' on it's own is a great sound effect)

D: Actually, you can be the SUN in my heart! HAHAHAHAHAHA... *Laughing even harder*

***************

Such a 'funny' friend I have. He is still so capable of such an uncle joke despite being several decades younger. Such talent.....

Obviously he has been thinking of a career change from being a Hollywood star to being a comedian of some sort because he asked me to make this 'joke' of his public by blogging about it. Wishing you heaps of luck in your future undertakings then, D..........

Tuesday, August 01, 2006 > Sick AGAIN..

I boasted of how I maintained my strength and health even though confined in the same room as Miss Goh Sick Anne for the past week.

Pride does come before a fall...

Now I just want to climb into bed and have mummy nurse me back to health again. Both undoable at the moment. Woe to Uni and staying away from home.

*sighs*
